Last time I posted I thought I had failed in the world of blogging.. NOT! 6 months and 2 bouts of bedrest later.....I vow (sort of) to keep it a little more updated. Most of you know whats been going on with me and baby Carson because of facebook, escpecially if you are friends with my mom, who has turned into a total facebook junkie..
The first half of my pregnancy was SO uneventful! no morning sickeness, no food aversions, no crazy cravings, no crazy emotional days.. SO EASY!! and then the day comes on June 25th where we get to find out if our little Equall was a he or she! It was probably one of the most exciting days of my life..little did i know how "exciting" the day was going to get!
In the tiny little room we stuffed My mom, Tim's mom, Tim's stepdad, Tim and I all to find out the sex of our little man.. it was a BOY!! just like we thought. we were super excited!..I could sense that Tim was a little overwhelmed with the reactions from our family, he (like I was) was perfectly content just watching our happy little guy jumping around on the screen and throwing up the rock hand for us. :)
Then the Dr asked for just Tim and I to stay in the room so they could check a couple more things, but didn't give me any other information so we stayed put. The sonographer just said that my placenta was a little low lying but it was no big deal.. it would probably move out of the way in plennnty of time for baby boy to arrive safely. We said goodbye to family and off i went to work..not 20 minutes later i got a call from the high risk dr. that i needed to come get monitored at Labor and Delivery to make sure i wasn't having contractions because I have a shortened cervix..which is uncommon for people who have never had any kind of surgery down there..So I went over, with my good friend Rachel in tow, to get monitored for an hour..
Turns out I was having contractions I wasn't feeling, so they hospitalized me for 3 days to give me meds to stop the contractions and put me on bedrest, which meant the trip we had planned for 2 days later was not happening, I was heartbroken and terrified that something awful was going to happen to our new little family. They got the contractions to stop and sent me home on bedrest for 4 weeks to get me to a "viable" gestation. It sucked. Sucked. Sucked. I am used to working full time and being busy. not working and not being allowed to do anything was reallly tough for me to do. Thank god for netflix, and the iPad...
My cervix was only marginally short, which was a good thing, because it stayed stable and closed which was what my OB was looking for. I got to see my little man every 2 weeks for 2 months, which was fun. getting to the point where I could see AND feel the movements he was making. He was still strong and healthy, which was all worth it to me..at 28 weeks they stopped the ultrasounds since there was no change and wanted to just go off my symptoms..
at 24 weeks they let me go back to work and everything was going well. I started at 20 hours, went up to 32..up to 40..back down to 32..back up to 40..and now that leads us to pretty much right now!
I have been going to the Dr every 2 weeks and last week was my 32 week appointment, we were just going to talk about birth control....NOT.
My cervix was only 1 cm long and I was already 1-2 cm dilated..which would be great! If I were a couple weeks ahead of where I am now.. so back in the hospital I go..having contractions again, like I had been since week 20..I just figured they were normal. I guess not, So they hooked me up to an IV and pumped me full of magnesium sulfate (which was awful and made me feel like I had the worst hangover EVER) and gave me two shots of steroids to speed up the lung development of Carson, just in case they couldn't stop my pre term labor..on Saturday they let me out, after montoring me some more and putting me on even stricter bedrest until 34 weeks..So now i'm not even allowed downstairs! bah..not to mention Tim cancelled netflix so I don't even have that! haha. I only have 1 week left until 34 weeks, It's going to be the longest week of my liiiiife!!
Here are the ultrasound pictures from When we found out we were going to be welcoming Carson Timothy Equall into the world!
